HELLO! My name is NENET, I AM AN ARGENTINE-BORN, US-BASED WRITER. I SIGN MY BYLINES WITH MY NAME, MARÍA BARRIOS,' IN A SOMEWHAT CLUMSY ATTEMPT TO UPLIFT LATINO WRITERS (IF YOU CALL ME ‘MARIA,’ THAT’S OK, BUT I PREFER NENET).

I have written for Washington City Paper, The Washington Post, the experimental music newsletter Tone Glow, Music Journalism Insider, Bandcamp Daily, and Grammy. I ALSO WRITE “THE BEST LATIN MUSIC ON BANDCAMP,” A MONTHLY COLUMN FOR BANDCAMP DAILY (I AM PARTICULARLY PROUD OF IT BECAUSE IT WAS MY IDEA ;)

ASIDE FROM WRITING, I AM THE LABEL COORDINATOR AT MISSISSIPPI RECORDS, A FORMERLY PORTLAND, NOW NEW YORK-BASED REISSUE LABEL. WITH THEM, I HAVE BEEN FACILITATING noteworthy, special MUSIC BEING PUT OUT INTO THE WORLD. WE HAVE CELEBRATED ART IN FANTASTIC PLACES SUCH AS ST. MARK’S CHURCH IN THE BOWERY, ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES, AND SOLAR MYTH.

some things I like, in no particular order: taking long walks, the color blue, pop music that makes us feel connected, dumplings, parentheses, great collaborations, frozen cherries, bouquets, nail polish, fog, black sabbath, poetry in my native language, monkeys eating fruit, and the glory of pasta and bread.
